Meet the Team
Carol trained as a registered nurse in Fitchburg Massachusetts USA. After working at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital then moved to Bermuda and worked at King Edward Memorial Hospital. She joined the team at the Family Practice Group in 1994.
Katherine Nisbet completed a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks in 1986. Upon completion of her degree she moved to Bermuda to work with the Department of Fisheries for 8 years before returning to Canada to further education in Aquaculture. After 20 odd years working in the fishing industry both locally and abroad, Katherine joined the team at The Family Practice Group as a receptionist in 2010. She recently qualified as an Assistant Nurse in 2014.
Linda Lightbourne qualified as a Registered General Nurse at Foreserterhill Nursing College in 1988 and later completed her BA nursing degree in 1995 at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen Scotland. She has twenty years experience working in the NHS in a variety of medical and surgical wards apart from two and a half years when she worked in Bermuda KEMH Curtis Ward. She returned to Bermuda in 2011 with her family having had a career break and joined The Family Practice Group in late 2013.
Nicola Arnold completed a BA in European Studies and Business at the University of Guelph, Ontario. She studied abroad in France and then worked in Canada for two years. Upon returning to Bermuda in 2013, she worked at BF&M Insurance in the areas of health claims and administration. During her time at BF&M she was part of the wellness committee and helped to launch the Livewell platform, a wellbeing activity hub. Nicola joined The Family Practice Group in the fall of 2015.
Catherine Wakely trained at Nottingham Medical School in England. She spent six years in postgraduate training, covering numerous different specialties and gaining membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Swaziland in Africa. With her husband, she spent four years working in a small rural hospital, being one of only four doctors for up to 300,000 people. During this time, she had two children. Catherine moved to Bermuda with her family in 2005. She has been working at The Family Practice Group since 2007.
Dr Murphy is a Bermudian GP. She attained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology, and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Leeds. Upon graduating she worked for nine years in the UK in internal medicine, pediatrics, gynaecology, psychiatry, emergency medicine and general practice, attaining her specialty qualifications and membership in the Royal College of Physicians, and the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Louise White spent 10 years at the University of London UK achieving a BSc in Nutrition 1982, an MSc in Medical Demography 1984 and then studied medicine graduating in 1989. Dr White established The Family Practice Group with two colleagues ( Dr Valerie James and Dr Jane Crerar ) in March 1993 and has worked here ever since.
Dr Terceira is a Bermudian GP. She obtained her medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She then went on to complete her residency training at St. Mary's Hospital, McGill University Family Medicine program. She also holds a Bachelor's of Science in Microbiology and Immunology as well as Master's of Science in the Epidemiology Evolution, and Control of Infectious Disease. She is certified as a family physician by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Sarah Winstanley is a Bermudian GP. She completed her BSc in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy ( pre-med ) at Duke University, USA then went on to attain an MSc in Immunology at Imperial College London UK in 2004. She then attended Imperial College Medical School and graduated in 2008. Dr Winstanley completed her General Practitioner Specialty training on the Isle of Wight in 2013.
